Elvy Morton founded Leicester Caribbean Carnival in 1985 with a vision of celebrating Caribbean culture while bringing communities together through music, dance and creativity. What began as a local celebration has grown into one of the UK's most recognised Caribbean carnivals.

The annual event showcases spectacular costumes, live music, dance performances and traditional Caribbean food, attracting thousands of visitors each year. It has become an important part of Leicester's cultural calendar and reflects the city's vibrant multicultural identity.

Elvy's vision has left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire generations and strengthen community connections across Leicester.
