On Saturday, March 8th, Confident Communities hosted a vibrant International Womens Day Pop-Up at Highcross, Leicester, celebrating the achievements of neurodiverse women and raising awareness about a range of neurodiverse conditions.

The event spotlighted famous women from around the world who have embraced their neurodiversity, helping to challenge stereotypes and inspire others. From ADHD and Autism to PTSD, Irlen Syndrome, and Dyspraxia, the day focused on empowering conversations and providing valuable information to the public. Confident Communities staff were on hand to engage visitors, answer questions, and share details about their free Neurodiversity Support Programme—a vital resource for individuals seeking guidance and community.

Beyond raising awareness, the event encouraged participation in interactive arts and crafts and the opportunity to try drumming, offering a fun and creative way to explore sensory experiences and self-expression. The lively and welcoming atmosphere helped foster meaningful conversations, breaking down barriers and reducing stigma around neurodiversity.

One key message from the day was the difference in how neurodiverse conditions present in females compared to males. Many neurodiverse women remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to symptoms that often manifest differently than in men. This is why events like this are crucial—not only to celebrate neurodiversity but also to promote early recognition and support.

The event was a huge success, with many attendees discovering new insights about themselves or loved ones, signing up for future events, and learning more about Confident Communities’ ongoing work.

Raising awareness of neurodiversity this International Womens Day is about ensuring that every woman, regardless of their background are, supported, and celebrated. Together, we can create a more inclusive world.
